Choosing a new carpet can be a minefield! Especially if you are inexperienced with interior designing and home renovations. Selecting colours, variants, textures, and materials can be overwhelming. So many decisions to make, so little time.
Consider your lifestyle.
How do you live, and where do you spend most of your time? Is the room you want to fit out high traffic or not? For example, if you live by yourself and would like a carpet that exudes complete luxury, then a lush plush carpet may be what you are after.
Plush carpet is especially delightful underfoot. They can also work for your lounge area as it is an excellent material for relaxing.
Alternatively, if you have a family with children or pets, then a loop pile or a quality twist could work better as it is more forgiving.
What’s your colour palette?
It can be confusing, but your new carpet can change the feel of a room
In short, when it comes to darker carpets, you need to expect a certain amount of fading. For this reason, a good idea to choose a shade darker than what you might have initially gone for. Ideally, the colour of the carpet should come from the same colour palette as your walls and furniture.
Choosing the right colour also comes down to thinking about what mood you want to create. A darker tone will create a more dramatic feel, while lighter colours will make a room feel light and bright and open up the space.
Once you have narrowed down your selection, we highly recommend taking a few samples home. Colours can look different in the showroom and in your own home.
Which fibre do you need?
This can be the most extensive and complicated thing to decide on. Wool is a natural, renewable, and sustainable fibre. It is incredibly hard-wearing, stain and soil-resistant, and the feel is just divine. It is also a good insulator, keeping the room warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Alternatively, wool and synthetic carpet will still give a natural appearance with its luxuriously soft feel. It’s durable yet budget-friendly.
